That’s why we’ve evolved from a custom fashion shopping site into something bigger: a data-powered platform for on-demand garment manufacturing that meets the real needs of modern fashion brands, uniform buyers, and retail shops.
We’ll admit it: we were really sad to shut down our wonderful made-to-measure marketplace. For 6 years, we helped women find clothes that fit their bodies, and we loved hearing from customers who felt confident in their clothes for the first time. But sales were not what we needed to keep the venture growing, so we have pivoted.
We had learned so much about the process of sizing and global supply chains! So, we’re taking that experience and putting it to use in a much larger capacity to help improve the garment industry.
More Than Just a Small Batch Factory Network
The new Balodana isn’t a traditional manufacturer or a basic sourcing service.
We are a small batch factory with our primary garment manufacturing in India, yes. BUT, we’re more importantly a hands-on partner to help garment buyers through the journey.
Our guiding star is still “better fit, less waste” and we’re going about it in a different way now. Instead of making one garment at a time for individual shoppers (made to measure), we are using what we learned about data-driven sizing and applying it for businesses who want to produce better fitting clothes for their customers —and smaller batches to reduce waste in the process.

Today’s fashion industry is fragmented and inefficient—billions of garments are made on spec each year and go unsold. But that doesn’t have to be your story. We work with brands that are ready to shift away from wasteful overproduction and instead invest in models that unlock new revenue streams and reduce risk.
Some initial clients for whom we are doing on-demand manufacturing and product development:
- Custom uniforms for a casino. For Playtech (a global gaming brand), we manufacture on-demand as they hire diverse staff across multiple U.S. locations, creating a unique size chart for each location to reflect the actual bodies of their staff. We even do made-to-measure when needed. The construction quality and fabrics meet the frequent wash and use demands of the workforce.
- Private label for a boutique. We co-created a line of dresses and shirts for OOMA, a retail boutique in Pennsylvania. Many of them feature unique fabric prints that were designed by the shop owner, including hand-applied block prints.
- Emerging fashion brand. We helped Moda Michelle launch her line of gorgeous styles targeted for African American fashion buyers. We digitized her textile print ideas for bold colors and patterns.
We’re Not Stopping There
As we expand our customer and factory relationships, we’re building technology “middleware” that can help to connect disparate systems and processes. Why? Because we’re sick of the chaos! It’s the reason we have so many unsold or returned clothing, and the reason why your clothes don’t fit.
We believe that by improving data standardization and connectivity, we can unlock incredible new opportunities for innovation. The digital disruption of the fashion industry started a few years ago and it is on its way to being a massive global change.
